NEON MUTINY is made by James Soldinger and run by Vapor LLC (“we,” “us”). This policy explains what the game and neonmutiny.com collect, why, who helps us run it, and the choices you have.
The short version.
- No ads, no ad trackers, and we never sell or rent your information.
- You do not need an email to play. An email is only stored if you add one.
- Your call sign and best runs are public on the leaderboard.
- You can delete your cloud account in the game at any time: Cloud Save, then Delete Cloud Account.
1. What we collect
On your device
The game keeps your progress, settings and save slots in your browser’s local storage, along with your sign-in session. This stays on your device unless Cloud Save copies it to your account (below). Clearing your browser’s site data removes it.
Your pilot ID
When you first play on neonmutiny.com, the game creates an anonymous account with a random ID and a random call sign (like RIG-1A2B3). It is not tied to your name or email.
Call sign and runs (public)
Your call sign, and for runs you post: the score, time survived, whether you won, the rig you used, kills, level, best combo, the mode and the date. Your call sign and best runs are shown to everyone on the leaderboard.
Cloud saves
Your game progress and save slots, stored with your pilot ID so you can pick up on another device.
Email (optional)
Only if you sign up or log in. We use it to send you sign-in codes and links and to find your account. It is never shown publicly, and we do not use it for marketing or newsletters.
Support payments (optional)
If you choose to support the game, Stripe handles the payment. Stripe collects your payment details and email address. We receive the amount, the date, and the name and email you give Stripe, and use them for our records and to answer questions about the payment. We never receive or store your full card number.
Reports
If you report a call sign, we store who reported whom, the reason and the date.
Technical information
Like any website, our hosting and database providers automatically process technical information such as your IP address, browser type, the pages and files requested, and the time, to deliver the Service, keep it secure, count visits and fix errors. Error reports from the website may include the page you were on and the error message.
Fonts
The website and game load fonts from Google Fonts, so your browser sends your IP address to Google when it fetches them.
What we do not collect
Outside an optional support payment through Stripe, we do not ask for your real name, address, phone number, payment details, precise location, or contacts, and we do not use advertising IDs or ad trackers.
2. How we use it
- to run the game, save your progress and sync it across your devices;
- to run the leaderboard and keep it fair and clean (filtering, reports, anti-cheat);
- to send the sign-in emails you ask for;
- to keep the Service secure, prevent abuse and fix bugs; and
- to understand, in general terms, how many people play and how the Service performs.
Where the law asks for a legal basis, we rely on providing the Service you asked for and our legitimate interest in running, securing and improving it.
3. Who helps us run it
We share information only with service providers that run parts of the Service for us, under their own privacy and security terms:
- Supabase hosts the database and accounts: your pilot ID, call sign, runs, cloud saves, reports and email if you add one.
- Resend delivers sign-in emails, so it receives your email address and the email we send you.
- Lovable hosts the website, which involves technical information and error reports.
- Google Fonts serves the fonts.
- Cloudflare Turnstile checks that new pilot IDs and sign-in emails are requested by a person, so it receives your IP address and technical information about your browser.
- Stripe processes optional support payments, so it receives the payment details, name, and email you give it.
We may also disclose information if the law requires it, to protect the safety, rights or property of players, the public or Vapor LLC, or as part of a sale or transfer of the game, in which case this policy continues to apply to it.
4. How long we keep it
We keep your account information while your account exists. When you delete your cloud account, we delete your pilot ID, call sign, posted runs, cloud saves, the reports you made and your email from our database right away. Copies can remain in our providers’ backups and logs for a limited time before they are overwritten. Information on your device stays until you clear it.
If you play without adding an email, your pilot ID is anonymous. When an anonymous pilot ID has not been used for 60 days, we delete it with its call sign, posted runs and cloud saves. Saves on your device stay, and the game makes a new pilot ID the next time you play.
5. Your choices and rights
- Play without an email, and sign out at any time.
- Change your call sign in the game.
- Delete your cloud account in the game: Cloud Save, then Delete Cloud Account.
- Clear the game’s data on your device through your browser settings.
- Email us to ask what we hold about you, to correct it, or to delete it if you cannot use the in-game option.
Depending on where you live, for example California, the European Union or the United Kingdom, you may have rights to access, correct, delete or receive a copy of your information, and to object to or limit how it is used. We honor those requests, will not treat you differently for making one, and may need to confirm the request comes from the account’s owner. We do not sell or share personal information for advertising, as those terms are defined under California law.
6. Children
NEON MUTINY is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child under 13 has given us an email address, contact us and we will delete it.
7. Security
Connections use HTTPS, and database rules let each player write only to their own account. No system is perfectly secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
8. Where it is processed
Vapor LLC is based in the United States. Our providers may process information in the United States and other countries, which may have different data protection laws than where you live.
9. Copies of the game hosted elsewhere
This policy covers neonmutiny.com. If you play a copy of the game hosted on another service, that service’s privacy policy also applies there.
10. Changes
We may update this policy. When we do, we will change the date at the top of this page, and for significant changes we will give notice on the website.
